Dermal fillers are injectable treatments designed to restore lost volume, smooth fine lines, and enhance your natural facial contours. They help to replenish areas of the face where volume has been lost due to ageing, weight loss, or simply genetics.

The most commonly used dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid (HA) — a naturally occurring substance in the body that attracts and holds moisture. This helps the skin appear plumper, smoother, and more hydrated.

Dermal fillers can be used for:

Soften deep lines and folds

• Restore fullness in the cheeks

• Enhance lip volume and shape

• Define the chin and jawline

• Improve symmetry and facial balance

How long do Dermal Fillers last?

The longevity of dermal fillers depends on the area treated and the individual’s metabolism. On average, results last anywhere between 6 to 12 months.

  • Jawline & Under-Eyes: Typically 9 to 12 months or longer due to lower movement in these areas.

  • Lips: Due to frequent movement (talking, eating, smiling), lip fillers usually last 6 to 9 months.

  • Other Areas (Cheeks, Nasolabial folds): Usually 9 to 12 months.

With regular treatments, results often last longer, and many clients find that they need fewer touch-ups over time.

Are there any side effects?

Dermal fillers are generally safe and well-tolerated, especially when administered by experienced professionals. Since hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the body, allergic reactions are extremely rare.

Common mild side effects may include:

  • Swelling

  • Bruising

  • Redness at the injection site

These usually settle within 24 to 48 hours. Applying ice after treatment can help reduce any swelling or bruising.

Serious complications are rare, but we will always discuss possible risks with you during your consultation to ensure you feel fully informed and comfortable before treatment.

Aftercare – What should I avoid?

To help your skin heal properly and maintain your beautiful results, we recommend:

  • Avoid alcohol and aspirin for at least 24 hours after treatment to reduce bruising risk.

  • Avoid wearing makeup on the treated area for 12 hours to prevent irritation. Apply cold compresses to treated area if needed.

  • Don’t massage or press on the treated area unless advised.

  • Sleep with your head slightly elevated on the first night to minimise swelling.

  • Stay out of direct sunlight, especially during the first few days, and apply sunscreen

  • Avoid intense exercise for 24-48 hours to reduce swelling and bruising.

Can I exercise after Dermal Fillers?

While gentle activity like walking is perfectly fine, avoid vigorous exercise for 24 to 48 hours after your procedure. Intense activity increases blood circulation, which may affect how the filler settles.

Exercising too soon can:

  • Cause filler migration, leading to uneven results

  • Increase swelling or bruising

  • Heighten the risk of infection due to sweat around the injection sites
